Activities:
Our diversional therapy staff provide extensive activity programs including music, bus trips, movies, indoor bowls, craft and gardening groups, bingo and cooking.

 

Alcohol:

Residents are welcome to drink alcohol but we ask that this be in moderation. If required alcohol can be supplied and distributed by staff  as requested.

 

Ambulance:

If hospital transfer is required the Registered Nurse will organise ambulance transport.

 

Charges:
Hostel residents (low care) pay a daily fee which is set by the government at 85% of the aged pension for person’s receiving full or part pensions. A slightly higher fee is paid by non-pensioners.
A bond may also be payable depending on the applicant’s assets. Please feel free to discuss any enquiries regarding charges with our helpful administrative staff.
Nursing Home residents (high care) pay a daily fee which is set by the government at 85% of the aged pension for person’s receiving full or part pensions. A slightly higher fee is paid by non-pensioners.
High care residents are not required to pay a bond but may be eligible for an accommodation charge depending on applicant’s assets. Once again our helpful administrative staff are happy to discuss charges with you.

 

Aromatherapy Services:

Are provided to residents if the need is assessed. This includes specialised creams, massage and aromatherapy baths.

 

Charter of Resident’s Rights and Responsibilities:
Please refer to Schedule 2 of the Resident Agreement.

 

Chemists:
Chemists provide a delivery service to the Facility for resident medications and other pharmaceutical needs. Chemist charges are separate to the fees paid to the Facility.

 

Churches:
A wide range of church services are provided on site.

 

Clothing:
It is important to have all your clothes clearly labelled. We recommend an iron label system which can be organised through reception. We strongly suggest you do not purchase woollen or dry clean only products due to the commercial nature of our laundering service.

 

Comments and complaints:
We are always keen to receive any feedback which helps us to improve our service. You are encouraged to make comments and complaints either verbally to staff or via our specified forms available in reception. We aim to follow up all concerns effectively and in a timely manner. If you feel your concern has not been dealt with appropriately information regarding further avenues for resolution are outlined in pamphlets in reception.

 

Confidentiality:
Residents of Noosa Nursing Centre can be assured that any details about them personally, their family, or their business affairs will not at any time be discussed with anyone or mentioned outside the facility.

 

Doctors:
Resident’s are encouraged to nominate the doctor of their choice. Many local doctors visit the facility. Staff will help you to arrange doctor’s visits as required.

 

Diversional Therapy:

is provided and assists residents in maintaining social, cultural and spiritual interests.

 

Electric scooters:
Due to the increased need by residents to purchase the Electric Scooters, we are obligated to have place the following policy:
Consultation between the Director of Nursing and the Resident must occur prior to the purchase of the Electric Scooter.

 

Negligence:

The resident will be held responsible for the cost to repair any damage caused by the Electric Scooter within the grounds of Noosa Nursing Centre. Be aware any damage caused outside of Noosa Nursing home will also be the resident’s responsibility. We strongly recommend the purchase of Third Party Insurance and include Public Liability on the policy.

 

Registration:

The Queensland Transport Department recognise the Electric Scooter as a driving car and therefore must be registered. All road rules apply whilst driving the Electric Scooter outside of the Noosa nursing Centre grounds. The Qld Transport Department requires your doctor’s medical certificate to say you are able to drive on public roads.

 

Speed:

Electric Scooters must give way to pedestrians and the speed must be a very slow walking pace.

 

Parking:

The Electric Scooter must face the brick wall outside your wing, not the glass windows. No parking inside of the buildings.

 

Emergency Call System:

A 24 hour nurse call system is provided in all bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.

 

Fire and other Emergencies:

The Facility is fitted with the latest fire detection systems. If the alarm system sounds residents and visitors are asked to remain calm and where they are if safe to do so. Staff are trained in emergency response and will assist persons to safety if required.
The Facility is also fitted with a security system consisting of cameras to increase safety.

 

Hairdressing:

Is available 3 days a week by our visiting hairdresser. Hairdressing salons are situated in both the Nursing Home and Sovereign Lodge Hostel.

 

Hospitals:
Noosa Nursing Centre is serviced by all the local hospitals including Noosa Hospital which provides public and private services is only 5 minutes away. Ambulance transfer is organised as required.

 

Nursing Staff:

The nursing staff consist of Registered Nurses, Endorsed Enrolled Nurses and Assistant Nurses. Medications are managed by our nursing staff for resident safety.
All nurses receive comprehensive training in the field of aged care and provide an excellent level of care.

 

Office Hours:

The administrative offices are open from 8 am to 4.30 pm.

 

Physiotherapy:

Is provided on site as determined via assessment. Designed programs are implemented by the physio assistants and nursing staff.

 

Podiatry:

External provider attends our facility every 4-6 weeks and as required.

 

Pool Therapy:

Is provided in our on site pool in the summer months. The pool has ramp access and residents are well supervised.

 

Speech Pathology:

An external speech pathologist is contracted to assess swallowing issues in residents and provide residents, families and staff with management strategies.

 

Visiting Hours:

Visitors are encouraged to visit at any time. Visitor meals can be arranged by our catering staff as required.
